If you’re a native Memphian, you likely grew up visiting Libertyland and experiencing the thrill of Elvis Presley’s favorite roller coaster, The Zippin’ Pippin’. After the amusement park closed in 2005, the land was brought back to life with the construction of The Memphis Sports & Events Center, next to the Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium, in the heart of Memphis.
This unique amateur and youth sports complex has multiple indoor basketball and volleyball courts and features two courtside cafes, luxury suites, meetings rooms, an adventure course and more. Upon walking in the front door, you see a huge information and check-in desk by Varia. A solid surface drink rail caps off a low wall separating the courts from the concession enabling spectators to enjoy a beverage while watching their favorite team play.
This booming hub for sporting events has received awards for Best New Construction: Large Projects at the 2023 Memphis Business Journal’s Building Memphis Awards and Community Impact Award at the Memphis Area Association of Realtors 2022 Pinnacle Awards.
