Lakeland School System acquired a beautiful 94-acre parcel of land in Shelby County to build their first middle school and high school—collectively known as Lakeland Prep. The middle school accommodates grades 5 – 8 in a roughly 112,000 square feet two-story facility with 36 classrooms, science lab, art room, STEM lab, library, music area, a cafeteria, gymnasium and administrative area.
In 2017, the Tennessee School Board association recognized Lakeland Middle Preparatory School as “School of the Year.” In 2025 it was named as a TAA Arts Rich School of Merit, recognizing the commitment of the school to arts education.
Varia provided a variety of speciality casework from the STEM lab to instrument storage, library shelving, and the teacher work area.
