Scope Varia Plastic Laminate Casework, Millwork, Sheldon/Diversified Wood Laboratory Casework and Axis Tables

Tasked with developing a middle school science lab design that accommodates sit-down and stand-up lab settings, Varia equipped each lab with curvilinear shaped student desks that easily adjust in height with a motorized lift system. The tables accommodate 4 students facing the teaching wall, making it ideal for lab or lecture. All tables were designed to be ADA accessible including the double-tiered sinks. The unique shape of the top encourages collaboration and teacher circulation. To maintain multi-discipline flexibility, all labs were equipped with fume hoods and safety equipment as well as an adjustable height teacher desk to accomodate stand-up height for demonstrations and desk height for paperwork. It’s important to expose students early and often to lab settings. Gladeville Middle School students have the advantage of being less intimidated by high school and higher education labs as they have the opportunity to learn in a formal lab setting from an early age.
