If you drive up to the state-of-the-art, Collierville High School, it’s hard to imagine its humble roots—a pecan tree farm. The town of Collierville was outgrowing its current building, so a new site was chosen for the project. Superintendent John Aitken recalls how the construction of the new Collierville High School was a leap of faith for the community. The city needed a new school—one that anticipated future growth and offered educational and athletic opportunities unparalleled in the region. The efforts of so many people in the community and school board came to fruition with the grand opening of Collierville High.

The auditorium is a stunning room, capable of hosting a variety of events with seating for 1,000 guests. Sound is a crucial aspect in auditorium design, and Varia helped problem solve the noise issues by providing plastic laminate wall panels and reflective noise buffering clouds. ??

Technology is an essential part of schools, and Collierville High allows students to check out laptops from their facility. The only problem is, where do you store all those computers? Varia installed custom laptop and tablet storage which keeps technology organized and easily accessible.

Not only do high schools help prepare students for college, but they also equip students who choose a vocational path and need skills for a specific trade. Collierville High offers a variety of vo-tech classes including auto mechanics, culinary arts, and nursing. Varia provided vo-tech casework with a stainless steel top. It’s a flexible piece of cabinetry that can be used in a variety of trade classes.

The attention to design and detail continues in the cafeteria which boasts a chef on site and a variety of culinary options. Within this space are Varia’s radiused café cabinets with durable, solid surface countertops—a must need in a room which circulates nearly 3,000 teenagers each day. Drips, spills, and mishaps are no problem with the easy-to-clean countertops.
